David Treece: LGBTQ+ Advocacy & Education
Beyond the many LGBTQ+ clients I offer financial planning services to, I have been a dedicated behind-the-scenes LGBTQ community advocate who has helped build the foundation that makes Miami a leader in LGBTQ visibility and inclusivity.
I am also a national leader in educating financial advisors and service professionals on understanding LGBTQ+ clients' unique issues when it comes to financial and life planning.
Even with the progress in LGBTQ rights over the past decade, many service providers have not adapted their businesses to address the distinct needs of the community. Given the unique legal, financial and personal circumstances of the LGBTQ community, there is a need for relevant expertise for any provider serving this important audience.
A Commitment to Community
Miami Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce
As Founder and First President of the Miami Dade Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (MDGLCC), David harnessed the energy of Miami Beach’s LGBTQ entrepreneurs and businesses to ensure that they had a place at the table. He has continued his support as a corporate member and received the Chamber’s President’s Award in 2005.
David and his husband, Luis Gonzalez Etchevest, presented the first SAVE Halloween Ball in their home in 1996 and many consecutive years thereafter. This annual event has grown to become one of SAVE LGBTQ’s premier (and one of the community’s most fun) fundraisers. He and Luis received the organization’s Founders Award in 2014 in recognition of their efforts.
National Gay & Lesbian Task Force
In 2000, The National Gay & Lesbian Task Force honored David at its’ Annual Gala for his contribution to advancing full freedom, justice and equality for LGBTQ people.
The Pride Center at Equality Park of South Florida
David was an inaugural, and is a continuing, member of the The Pride Center at Equality Park of South Florida Founders Circle, helping this vital community gathering place for senior social connection and LGBT HIV health outreach continue to grow and thrive.
Financial Education for the LGBTQ+ Community
David Treece presents content-rich webinars and in-person community-based seminars throughout Miami-Dade and Broward counties in a friendly and no-pressure atmosphere. He is committed to sharing his experience through engaging and story-based presentations that speak to the concerns LGBTQ individuals may have about today's most relevant financial planning and lifestyle-related topics. Education partners include the Lambda Living Program of Jewish Community Services of South Florida, Miami Shores Brockway Memorial Library, and MDGLCC.
